Elephant Revival - It's Alive (2012)

Hailing from Nederland, Colorado, the folk group Elephant Revival has been making nationwide waves with their beguiling blend of Americana, bluegrass, jazz standards, and Celtic fiddle tunes with small dashes of psychedelia and pop. Having toured extensively in 2012, including a couple of energetic dates in Crested Butte, the band also had time to record a new EP titled It’s Alive. Utilizing new recording technology that is designed to greatly benefit the highs and lows of acoustic music, Elephant Revival’s latest offering a stellar representation of all that this great band brings to the table. Tunes run the range of the Elephant Revival canon, from instrumental Celtic-inspired tunes (“Tam Lin Set”) to poppier, sing-a-longs such as the standout track “To and From” which combines the band’s penchant for earthy, spiritual lyrics with a nostalgic, romantic chorus.
